Is Your Turmeric Working?

As one of the most researched plants in existence, Turmeric is proving to be the darling child we’ve all been waiting for. Or at least that’s what they say. But there’s one important distinction that needs to be made: consumption vs. absorption. You can consume turmeric in whatever form you’d like (golden milk, capsule, as a spice in your food, etc.) but that doesn’t guarantee that your body will be able to fully utilize and absorb it.

Turmeric is a vital part of typical Indian cuisine and is always found in combination with other foods and spices. But we don’t consume turmeric this way. And that’s where the problem lies.

Recent research shows that turmeric, when combined with specific foods and spices, becomes much more bioavailable. And that’s an important distinction. One of the key foods that makes absorption much more likely is the vegetable known as okra. Unless you live in the south, okra is probably not a regular part of your diet. So how can we capitalize on the benefits of turmeric and okra together?

MediHerb, the industry leader in providing exceptional quality herbal products, has recently formulated a highly bioavailable turmeric which, not surprisingly, contains the fiber found in okra. Studies have found that this combination greatly enhances the bioavailability of the turmeric, allowing us to enjoy the benefits. We’ve been using it with our patients and have seen some pretty remarkable results. It’s called Turmeric Forte.

When consumed on a daily basis, turmeric in this form has been shown to compare very favorably to these conventional medications:

  • Lipitor and other cholesterol-lowering drugs1
  • Prozac and other antidepressants2
  • Metformin (used for diabetes)3
  • NSAIDs and other anti-inflammatory drugs (aspirin, Ibuprophin, naproxen, tamoxifen, etc.)4
  • Aspirin as a blood thinner5
  • Corticosteroids for certain conditions6, 7, 8
  • Oxaliplatin (chemotherapy drug)9

There is no question that bioavailable turmeric should be part of our daily diets. The research is quite strong for its anti-cancer benefits as a preventative or when taken during chemotherapy. If you want to improve your health in the most efficient way possible, we highly recommend bioavailable turmeric from MediHerb. One of our favorites for sure!
